Invitation to Workshop ‘Adapting to Climate Change - the role of the new regional strategies’ On behalf of the Local and Regional Adaptation Partnership Board1 (LRAP), I would like to invite you to attend a workshop on ‘Adapting to Climate Change – the role of the new regional strategies’ on 1st October, Birmingham.
Regions are currently preparing for the new style Regional Strategies, a requirement of the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction (LDEDC) Bill which is in the final stages of going through Parliament. As you will know, CLG and BIS are currently consulting on their policy statement on the Regional Strategies as well as guidance on the establishment of Leaders’ Boards.
The new Regional Strategies are expected to set the long term strategic framework, focusing on key priorities and challenges for the region. Among other things, the Strategies must help meet national greenhouse gas targets, carbon budgets and climate change adaptation objectives.
The workshop on the 1st October has been designed by the LRAP Board to help regions fulfill the requirement on climate change adaptation. Through presentations and breakout sessions the workshop will look at existing good practice, evidence bases and available support.
The overall aim is to work towards a set of common principles on integrating adaptation into the new strategies. It is also an opportunity to hear from Defra, CLG and BIS officials on national policy on climate change adaptation and the role of the new regional strategies.
Please find the agenda below.
To reserve your place at this workshop please email gol-susdev@gol.gsi.gov.uk with your job title and contact details.
